The Difference Between Feelings And Emotions

Often we use the terms emotion and feeling interchangebly. Feelings are sensations that occur in our body on an energetic level. We often associate that sensation with a label that we call an emotion. When we feel a tightness or racing in our chest or a clenching of the teeth we may label that feeling as the emotion of anger. Someone else may label the same sensation or feeling as the emotion of excitement. Or you may experience the emotion you label as anger with a different feeling or sensation in your body. In reality what is being experieced are feelings that have been triggered by something outside of us that have caused sensations in our body.

Or you may have had a thought about something in the moment that caused your body to manifest those sensations based on feelings you had in the past when you had that same thought. Our bodies interpret it as if it is happening today and we feel the same thing again and label it the same feeling. Because the situation or thought is similar we "feel" the sensation again and make a decision to label it as "anger." Often times we blame it on outside circumstances or the people in our lives. But it is always us that is feeling it, it is our energy. All that it is is a sensation in our body that feels like a lower or constricting energy.

If we can really understand this and begin to see that we are just energy and that our energy is either constricted in resistance or open and relaxed. We are able to understand that emotions are just labels we place on a corresponding energetic signature in our bodies.

We can then begin to do or think new things for ourselves that create different sensations in our body to change the energetic signature we are feeling in the moment if we don't like how we feel. This takes the burden of responsibility off of the people in our environment and places it solely on ourselves. That is why meditation works. It allows us to separate our thoughts from the energy we feel in our body. This lowers the feelings of resistance and allows our body to feel better, raising our vibration.

Resistance creates a lower vibration that we often associate with "negative" emotions. It is a lower fearful energy and when we feel it we cannot feel love. If we eliminate the resistance we become our true selves. Our true self can then experience what we were truly meant to feel, which is the vibration of love.
